Sky Crawlers To Be Animated
The Sky Crawlers is a Japanese novel series by Hiroshi Mori, noted for his series of mystery novels such as The Perfect Insider.
First published in June 2001 and spanning five volumes, it follows the journeys and tribulations of a group of young fighter pilots involving in a dogfight warfare. It is set during an alternate historical period. The art for the series is illustrated by Kenji Tsuruta, where one of his most famous works, Spirit of Wonder, got adapted into an anime series.
The animated film, directed by Mamoru Oshii, director for Ghost In The Shell, is set to be release in 2nd August 2008.
Animated by Production I.G, the film will be written by Chihiro Itou, feature character designs by Tetsuya Nishio. The music by Kenji Kawai, who also did the music for GITS.
